I've been putting all your blogs into a word document for Mel (interesting stuff!!) and I came across this one- This issue has been on my mind a lot lately, in fact, while I was in Bolivia, my translators and teammates had an slightly heated discussion about it. Do you have any further thoughts on it now that it's 3 years later? :)

Hey kendall

i think people get like that is because that is the limit of there discernment.

You'll have to explain to me the American phenomena of the need for a 'young adults ministry' sometime.

it is unique to the USA.

In China they have 14 year olds planting churches
In africa you have 18 year olds running churches of hundreds of people.

The modern American church demands nothing of its young men and women except occasional attendance and we wonder why they perish...it is because they have no vision

Here we compartmentalize people and separate them from meaningful relationships with the rest of the body.

if is very hard for 'older women to raise up younger woman' and for 'older men to raise up younger men' if they are continually separated with interaction.

Just a thought

Its sad really since Jesus Paul and Peter talked about not perfering one over another or rich above poor. Yet in our society its more driven by what you can get instead of what you can give. the church in america needs another great awakening one that is lasting where souls repent for sin and not just come to Jesus to get.

It's interesting that you mention the Message... I went with a friend last week to their young adults service and the speaker quoted only that version, and spend the entire time talking about how he likes to check everybody's tithing records before he lets them hang out with his kids. I found it kind of strange..

A very accurate description of the 21st century church, particularly in the metroplex. We should be taking a very close look back at the 1st century church, back to the very basics of our Chrisitan faith.

Many Christians, unfortunately, restrict what God can do to what they believe what is just and moral according to their own greatly limited mental ability. Therefore, the simple truth found in Ephesians 1:4 is rejected because many Christians refused to believe that God would elect some and not elect all. In other words, they believe such a God would be unjust. Let's pray that those in God's family will come to know what a blessed blessing they have by being among the elect.

Great post. Really, a year ago when you taught me this simple principle, it really changed my life. Now that the knee surgeries are over, I'm starting again back to the gym and eating better... Thanks Pastor!

Off-topic:

Can I just THANK YOU for switching from Quicktime to You Tube? I can finally uninstall the QT software from my PC as this site was the only thing keeping it on there.

Again...THANK YOU!
