We owe it to ourselves to search out God's truth through the help of the Holy Spirit not just finding and reading into a verse what we want to hear. I find it much more difficult to read scripture objectively rather than subjectively . I am not sure if this is because of the Christian culture I was taught in, or simply because once I think I believe something doctrinally, I am too stubborn even to allow scripture to change that thought! It is a great thing when we are able to read scripture as it was written and allow the spirit of God to bring revelation. On the flip side, it is also amazing to think of how often we block the Holy Ghost from teaching us by reading scripture with a closed mind. Good stuff.
