The Delusion

The delusion doesn’t start with “I don’t need God” or “I don’t need church”, the delusion starts with “I don’t need another, I can make it on my own”.

We were created for fellowship.

We were created for emotional, spiritual, and physical intimacy.

To say “I don’t need God, I don’t need church, all I need is my Bible” is not only ignorance, it is arrogance and faulty theology.

It is a train wreck looking to happen, a fool looking for an excuse, a cult looking for a victim.

I agree. Church encourages you to read the Bible and the Bible brings you closer to God. The three go together - a perfect trio.

Further to my previous comment - the reason I think Church is so important is that it helps us with correct interpretation of the Bible. The Pastor keeps you on track and can help with some of the more difficult passages. Some of the words used in the modern translations often have a meaning different to that meaning in biblical times.

Your blod presupposes that everyone reading it has no intimacy with God. If that were true, your blog would be correct. Since your supposition is wrong, the blog is therefore in error.

The Holy Spirit is what needs to be followed, not the people at the Church buliding.

    Peace

    wow…no name…bold

Let me help you…the article doesn’t presuppose lack of intimacy with the Holy Ghost.

I am always concern when people use emotion filled not scriptural very typical ‘old school pentecostal’ statements as “The Holy Spirit is what needs to be followed…”

it is evident you need help with insight into appropriate church government and i am truly sorry for any poor church experience that you have had.

I would suggest that the error lies with your reading into the blog and not reading of blog.

    Dear anonymous,

I disagree with you as well. My heart also goes out to you and the negative experiences you might have had with churches in your past or present. Please allow me to share a few things.

Please try to be open minded.

We WERE created for emotional, spiritual and physical intimacy. God knows us and knows what we need. We need each other. We need our church. We need relationships and fellowship and learning to open ourselves up to love and trust and realizing this is how God intended our lives to be will drastically change your life. I have had some of the same feelings as you in the past, thinking I dont need church, I have a relationship with God and thats all that matters. Although that is very important, I will tell you from my experience that getting involved and opening my heart up and being sort of vulnerable in a way (which scares me) has totally transformed my life. It has helped me feel like I belong and that I am a part of something bigger than me. I benefit in so many ways. The worship is one of my favorite parts, I get lost in His presence and I feel the closest to Him, there is just something amazing and spiritual about worshiping our Awesome God with your church/friends/family. Everyone singing and praising Him together, its so beautiful. Getting involved helps me to be accountable and that’s important to me. I benefit from the word. Yes you can read your bible on your own and I think that is important also, but me for me personally there is such power in listening to our pastors word that was prepared specifically by him or her and God for our church. I also benefit from the prayers and support that I have from our church. It’s comforting on so many different levels.

I have no idea who you are, but I will be praying for a change of heart. Bless you.
